One of the most revered saints in Christianity. According to the apocrypha, she was the daughter of a priest. She married the rich and pious Joachim, with whom she lived in Nazareth. She remained childless for a long time; asked God to give him a child, whom she promised to dedicate to Him. In answer to prayer, an angel appeared, predicting the miraculous conception and birth of the Virgin Mary, through whom the whole world would be blessed. After that, she gave birth to a girl, whom she named Mary. The cult of honoring reaches the VI century, since the emperor Justinian I erected a church in honor of the holy church. Her relics were kept in St. Sophia Cathedral until 1333, from where they were taken to France.
