Idun is a Scandinavian goddess from ancient Germanic mythology whose role is associated with youth, eternal beauty and fertility. Her name may be related to the root ′idu′ in Old Scandinavian, meaning ′to work′ or ′to do′. She is usually depicted as the keeper of apples, bringing eternal youth to the Scandinavian gods.
Idun′s main function in mythology is her ability to produce apples, which have the amazing power to keep those who eat them young and beautiful, particularly the gods of Asgard. This is why she is often represented with a basket of apples
