Scandinavian god Tyr

Tyr was one of the most important gods in Scandinavian mythology. He was the god of war and justice, and was often associated with winning battles and protecting order. Legend has it that the Tyr god agreed to make a bargain with the wolf Fenrir, a huge creature believed to foreshadow the end of the world ( Ragnarok). Tyr gave his hand as collateral so that Fenrir would agree to be shackled. When Fenrir realized he had been tricked, he bit off Thür′s hand. In this episode, the symbolism of the power of war and betrayal are intertwined, making Tyr one of the most interesting and complex characters in Scandinavian mythology.
