Norse Goddess Skadі

Skadi is a strong and independent goddess who symbolizes the power of nature and winter. Her veneration can be associated with hunting seasons and colder periods of the year. She was the daughter of the giant Tjatzzi, who was killed by the Ases (gods of Asgard). Some sources mention that her mother was a giantess. After the death of her father, Skadi traveled to Asgard to avenge him. To settle the conflict, the Asgardians offered her to choose a husband from among them. However, she was only allowed to choose a husband by the sight of his feet. Skadi chose Njörd, god of the sea, hoping that he was the handsome Baldr, but she was mistaken.
