When I leave home, I always take with me a marching jar of coffee spices: ground cardamom, ginger, nutmeg, mixed in equal proportions, to them

you can add a little cinnamon, vanilla and cloves, or you can not.

Such a jar takes up little space in your pocket, and a pinch of spices added to the cup, immediately, while the coffee is still very hot, turns any slop into a tolerable drink.

If there is a lemon in a cafe, it’s absolutely wonderful. Lemon juice turns the most disgusting coffee into espresso romanos, the name alone is worth it.
