Description
Chepraga - a clasp for beads in the form of a zgardi-cross or svarga.
An important place in the decoration of the Ukrainian folk costume belongs to metal ornaments. These are Chepragi, zgarda, and rustling bells. Zgardas and rustles were strung on strings, strips of leather or wire in one long row, put on over the head and wrapped several times around the neck. To connect the Zgard, the Chepragi fasteners are used, consisting of two metal circles (crosses) decorated with ornaments, one of which has a hook, and the second has a corresponding loop. Solar symbolism is painted on the Cheprags: a wheel with eight, six or four spokes (the last option is, in fact, a cross), a rosette or concentric circles.
Chepraga is a solar symbol - it will protect a person from all evil, drive away evil spirits, an evil spirit.
Chepragi are often used as fasteners for outerwear.
Brass, casting. Reconstruction.
