Master class on creating a scarf ′Sakura branch′ from Galanna

25 Apr 2024
Good afternoon, I am a craftswoman who makes scarves for the whole family and pets. Wool helps me express myself. I really appreciate materials that can last a long time. And the felting process emphasizes the high quality of the natural material even more. I will share my skills with you, and together we will make a scarf using the technique of wet felting ′Sakura branch′.
We need the following materials:
1. Merino wool (I have gray color)
2. Silk fibers (I have burgundy, pink and soft pink)
3. Bubble wrap (on which we will lay out our ′Sakura Branch′ scarf)
4. Soap solution
5. A large terry towel
6. Water for rinsing.

Let′s start creating:
1. Lay out the wool in the shape of a rectangle, as in photo 1-

2. Lay out the branches with burgundy silk as in photo 2-

3. Turn on the fantasy and add pink silk - like cherry blossoms, see photo 3-

4. We add more light pink silk - cherry blossoms have bloomed, see photo 4-

5. Wet it with a soap solution, cover it with a film and start rubbing with gentle movements. At first gently, gradually pressing a little more. With the help of friction, the wool should become a canvas. Be patient - this matter takes 4-5 hours. Your hands are tired, but you will have a scarf.
6. In cool water (because the wool shrinks in hot water), rinse the scarf, wring with neat movements, do not twist or pull, carefully rinse a couple of times. It is necessary to completely wash off the detergent.
7. Do not twist, wrap with a towel for 10 minutes and dry on a horizontal surface, giving the correct shape.
8. And voila, the ′Sakura branch′ scarf is ready: see photo 5-
and photo 6-

We enjoy our work!!!
I hope it was useful for you, I am Anna Galayko, a craftswoman of wool and silk scarves - Galanna brand.
